Remarkably Retro
Contralto statue, original by Lawrence Tenney Stevens, 1936. Recreation by David Newton, 2009. Fair Park, Dallas, Texas.
The Contralto and Tenor statues, created in 1936 for the Texas Centennial Exposition, mysteriously disappeared in the 1940s. Some people believe they were melted down as part of the war effort in WWII. The statues were recommissioned and re-installed in 2009. Photo taken by me on 16-Aug-2011.
