My cousin sent me this picture from Alva, Oklahoma on Monday. The blizzard dumped 20 inches of snow and caused the Sonic Drive-In to collapse. No more soft drink happy hours in Alva for a while it seems.

Rick Santorum suspends GOP nominee campaign
U.S. conservative Rick Santorum dropped out of his presidential campaign on Tuesday after falling far behind front-runner Mitt Romney in the race for the Republican nomination.
The former senator from Pennsylvania said he was suspending his campaign, effectively ending his bid to be the Republican who will face President Barack Obama in the November 6 general election.
“We will never be a country that can go forward as a great and powerful country again unless we remember who we are and what makes us Americans. That’s what our campaign was about,” Santorum said in Gettysburg, near the Civil War battle site.

Tornadoes touched down in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area on Tuesday, tossing tractor trailer trucks into the air and grounding all planes in the area.
All planes were grounded at Dallas-Fort Worth International airport because of reports of storms and tornadoes, American Airlines spokesman Tim Smith said.
Dallas-Fort Worth airport spokesman David Magana said officials were trying to protect passengers from glass windows by moving them into stairwells and restrooms.
“We are sheltering passengers at the moment,” said David Magana, a spokesman for DFW International Airport.
We had some wild weather here earlier this afternoon!
My great-grandmother’s house in Alva, Oklahoma. I wish I could live there all year long. [I should have added that my great-grandmother is no longer living and her house is now a bed & breakfast called The Vintage Inn.]

Hello Kitty infinity mirror shrine, 2011
A month or so ago, I went to a thrift store here in Dallas and found this mirror with an electric cord sticking out of it. I figured it was some kind of infinity mirror, but it was broken. I got it home and there was a gold crucifix inside. I fixed the lights, and removed the crucifix but couldn’t think of anything else to put inside. I finally decided to try Hello Kitty as a joke, and I think it turned out pretty well. I can always change it out to whatever I want.
Pioneers of American Industrial Design, US first class postage stamps, 2010
I went through the line at the post office this afternoon looking for something a little more interesting to put on my cards and letters. When they pulled these stamps out of the book, I was thrilled and bought several sheets of them! I think they’re really cool!
